Cannan, May Wedderburn
(1893-1973)
   She was born at Oxford, where her father was dean of Trinity College. In 1911 she joined the Vol58 untary Aid Detachment, and when war broke out she spent some time nursing in Rouen. Returning to England, she helped her father run the Clarendon Press, which included publishing material for the War Propaganda Bureau. Her first poems were published in The Scotsman in 1908. Her major publications: In War Time, 1917. The Lonely Generation (memoirs), 1934. Grey Ghosts and Voices (her autobiography, published posthumously, 1976. The Tears of War: The Story of a Young Poet and a War Hero, May Wedderburn Cannan and Bevil Brian QuillerCouch, Cavalier Paperbacks, 2002. ISBN: 1899470190. CavalierPaperbacks.co.uk.
